Where the defining constraint is not industrial load but uptime — dual supplies, load segregation and a maintenance window that has to be negotiated around a tenant's operating hours.
Commercial buildings and data centres fail differently from industrial plants. The load is usually less demanding per unit, but continuity is absolute — a tenant operating a data centre will treat an interruption as a contractual event, not an operational one. The design response is redundancy at the incoming level and strict segregation between essential and non-essential circuits.
That response creates a specific equipment problem. Two incoming transformers, an automatic transfer arrangement and a busway section between them have to behave correctly under every combination of supply states, and they have to be tested against those combinations before they are switched on. It is a commissioning problem as much as a selection problem.
Maintenance scheduling is the other driver. In a building that is occupied, the switching window is a negotiated constraint, so sectionalising and remote indication are valued more than they are in an industrial plant where a shutdown can be planned.
| Equipment | Role in this application |
|---|---|
| SCB18 dry-type transformer | Dual incoming units for essential loads, installed without oil containment in occupied buildings |
| S13 / S20 / S22 oil-immersed transformer | Where the incoming is at plant level or in a dedicated yard |
| MNS / GCK low-voltage switchgear | Withdrawable main distribution assemblies with the sectionalising arrangement the building requires |
| GGD low-voltage switchgear | Fixed distribution, final circuits and tenant metering assemblies |
Equipment combinations shown are typical configurations for this type of installation. The delivered configuration is confirmed in the technical agreement against your single-line diagram and site conditions.
The transfer arrangement has to be specified in the technical agreement: which breaker is the coupling device, whether it is electrically or mechanically interlocked, and the undervoltage and overvoltage settings that initiate a transfer.
Essential circuits must be physically separated from non-essential circuits at the assembly level, not just by labelling, so a fault or a shutdown in one group does not reach the other.
Where a building is sold or let by unit, the metering arrangement and the measurement class per tenant are decided early because they change the panel configuration, not just the accessories.
Essential incoming equipment in a continuous-load building is a candidate for partial discharge monitoring and temperature monitoring. We supply the equipment with the sensor provision the monitoring scheme needs.
The switching sequence and the test schedule are prepared with the commissioning team so the transfer logic is verified under every supply combination before handover.
Yes, and we prefer to. Two units with a matching rating, impedance and vector group are supplied together so the parallel or standby arrangement behaves as the design assumes. If only one unit is replaced, we check the existing unit's data before quoting the replacement.
Yes. Remote indication, remote control and communication to the building management system or the tenant's SCADA can be included. The protocol and the point list are confirmed before production.
Standard configurations follow the standard lead time; a package with a defined switching scheme, a bespoke metering arrangement or a special enclosure finishes on the customized lead time, counted from deposit plus confirmed technical agreement plus approved general arrangement drawing.
We prepare the packing list and the lifting and handling instructions for the equipment, and coordinate with your freight forwarder. On-site positioning, cabling and connection are carried out by the installation contractor.
Send the single-line diagram or the equipment schedule, the destination country and the quantity. We reply with a configuration proposal and a price, normally within 24 hours.
