GGD LV Switchgear

Fixed-design low-voltage distribution switchgear for incoming panels, outgoing feeders, motor control and reactive compensation in 400 V networks.

What Is GGD LV Switchgear?

GGD remains the most widely specified low-voltage cabinet in Chinese industrial and building projects because it delivers the required protection coordination at the lowest cost per cubicle. For export projects it is typically used as the incoming and feeder section of a package substation or a plant distribution room.

GGD is the fixed-design low-voltage distribution cabinet family used for receiving and distributing power at 400 V. It is the economic choice for buildings, workshops and plant distribution rooms where the outgoing circuits are fixed and frequent breaker replacement is not required. Each cubicle is assembled around a main air circuit breaker with rated currents from 400 A up to 3150 A, and a set of outgoing distribution breakers.

How It Works

The incoming cubicle carries the main breaker and the busbar system, while feeder cubicles carry the outgoing circuits with their protective devices. The busbar is tinned copper, sized for the cubicle rating, and the internal separation keeps the incoming and outgoing compartments apart. Protection and control devices are mounted on the cubicle mounting plate, and the door carries the operating handles and indication for each circuit.

  • Fixed incoming and feeder cubicles assembled around air circuit breakers.
  • Tinned copper busbar rated to match the cubicle current class.
  • Outgoing circuits with moulded-case or air breakers for distribution and motor circuits.
  • Reactive compensation sections available in the same line-up as an automatic capacitor bank.
  • Enclosure protection IP30 / IP40 indoor; separate outdoor IP54 cabinets available.

Values shown are typical ratings for this product family. Final ratings, dimensions and component selection are confirmed in the technical agreement and the order drawing; routine factory test reports are supplied with each unit.

How lead time is counted10 days for standard models and 15 days for customized configurations. The clock starts on the day we receive your deposit, the confirmed technical agreement and the approved general arrangement drawing — not on the order date. MOQ is 1 unit.

Typical Applications

  • Industrial plant main distribution and motor control centres
  • Commercial building low-voltage switchrooms and apartment distribution
  • Incoming and outgoing sections inside package substations
  • Sub-distribution in workshops, offices and public buildings
  • Auxiliary and standby circuits in mining camps and construction sites

Customization Options

  • Main breaker brand: Siemens, ABB, Schneider, Chint, Delixi or MECE, per your approved list
  • Automatic reactive compensation section with the required step configuration
  • Meters, CTs and energy metering cubicles
  • Door-mounted indicator and push-button layouts matched to the site operation scheme
  • Enclosure colour, plinth and gland plate arrangement

How to Select

Begin with the calculation current of the largest outgoing feeder group, because the main breaker in the incoming cubicle has to carry it with the appropriate headroom. Then decide the withstand level — the short-time withstand current of the busbar and the breaking capacity of the main breaker must both sit above the design short-circuit current of the installation, and the two are often quoted in different units, which is where mistakes happen. Finally, list the outgoing circuits with their load type because motor circuits need a different breaker curve and more gland space than a lighting circuit.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is GGD low-voltage switchgear?

GGD is a fixed-design low-voltage switchgear and controlgear assembly for AC networks up to 690 V, used for receiving and distributing power. It consists of an incoming cubicle, feeder cubicles and, where required, a compensation or metering cubicle.

What is the maximum current a GGD line-up can carry?

Standard GGD covers busbar currents from 400 A to 3150 A. Where the incoming current exceeds 3150 A, a withdrawable Blokset5000 or MNS assembly is typically used instead.

Do you supply branded main breakers?

Yes. Main breakers can be Siemens, ABB, Schneider, Chint, Delixi or MECE according to your specification, and the same applies to the outgoing devices.

What protection class do outdoor LV cabinets have?

The indoor GGD standard is IP30 / IP40. Separate outdoor cabinets such as DFW-12 and XGW-12 are IP54 as standard and can be supplied to IP65.

Which standards does GGD comply with?

GB/T 7251.1-2023 and GB/T 7251.2-2023, with IEC 61439-1 and IEC 61439-2 as the international reference. The GGD series is covered by CCC self-declaration 2026960301001251.

How long is the lead time?

10 days for standard GGD configurations and 15 days for customized assemblies, counted from deposit plus confirmed technical agreement plus approved drawing.
