Continuous-process facilities where supply continuity, arc-flash containment and the separation of hazardous and non-hazardous areas drive every equipment decision.
Facilities handling oil, gas or petrochemical feed have two independent constraints that must be satisfied together. The first is area classification: equipment installed in a classified zone has to be certified for that zone and that gas group. The second is process continuity: a distribution fault in a continuous plant is not an inconvenience, it is an unplanned shutdown.
These two requirements pull the design in different directions. Zone classification is resolved at the equipment-selection stage and is fixed by the area drawing, while continuity is resolved by topology — ring main units rather than radial feeders, redundant transformers, and interlocking that keeps the alternative supply available.
Because certification documents are only valid for a specific product and a specific zone classification, the certificate scope has to be checked against the requirement before anything is ordered. We make that check part of the quotation rather than something the contractor discovers later.
| Equipment | Role in this application |
|---|---|
| KYN28A-12 MV switchgear | Metal-clad 12kV with arc-resistant construction options and the interlocking scheme required for a redundant supply |
| HXGN-12 ring main unit | Compact RMU for ringed distribution where loss of a single feeder must not interrupt the load |
| S13 / S20 / S22 oil-immersed transformer | On-site units with the oil containment and fire separation arrangement required by the site |
| YB12 package substation | Prefabricated outdoor unit for auxiliary and remote load points |
Equipment combinations shown are typical configurations for this type of installation. The delivered configuration is confirmed in the technical agreement against your single-line diagram and site conditions.
The equipment certificate must cover the zone classification, the gas group and the temperature class of the installed location. We verify the scope against the requirement before the order is confirmed.
For a switchgear installed in an accessible area, incident energy has to be assessed against the incident energy analysis, and the enclosure class, the panel type and the personnel protection arrangement are selected to match.
Ring main units rather than radial feeders, two-transformer arrangements with a coupling point, and automatic transfer at the incomer — the topology is decided together with the process, not after it.
Interlocks between the incomer and the coupler, and the protection settings, are confirmed in the technical agreement because they determine how the system behaves during a fault and during a maintenance window.
Test reports, the approved drawing and the certification scope are the documents an audit asks for, so they are supplied as part of the delivery package.
We supply enclosures built for classified-area installations, and we verify that the certificate scope matches the zone, gas group and temperature class of the installed location. Send the area classification drawing with your enquiry and we will confirm what we can cover.
We work from your incident energy analysis. The enclosure type, the panel type and the maintenance access arrangement are selected to fall within the calculated limits, and the arc-resistant construction is quoted as an option on the switchgear.
A ring main unit keeps the load supplied when one feeder is out of service, which is the normal way a plant maintains supply during maintenance or a single fault. That redundancy is the reason the topology is specified at the beginning.
On request. A recommended spare parts list is prepared with the quotation, sized to the installed base and the maintenance regime you intend to run.
Send the single-line diagram or the equipment schedule, the destination country and the quantity. We reply with a configuration proposal and a price, normally within 24 hours.
