Pumping stations, treatment works and utility buildings — installations where the load is continuous, the environment is wet and the operator is often a public authority rather than a private industrial buyer.
Water and wastewater installations are unusual in one respect: almost every motor in the plant is a critical-duty load. A pump that stops is not an inconvenience that can wait for the next shift, and the treatment process itself usually cannot run without continuous supply to the aeration and dosing equipment.
That has two practical consequences. Motor starting and protection have to be handled properly — a large number of pumps started together against a weak source is the most common cause of a voltage dip that trips the plant. And the equipment has to be qualified for a permanently wet environment, with the enclosure class and the cable entry chosen for the room rather than for the drawing office.
Many of these installations are tendered by public authorities, so documentation completeness and the conformity of the delivered configuration with the tender documents are as important as the hardware itself.
| Equipment | Role in this application |
|---|---|
| KYN28A-12 MV switchgear | 12kV incoming and feeder switchgear for the main distribution room, with motor-starting characteristics matched to the pump duty |
| GGD / MNS low-voltage switchgear | Motor control and power distribution for pump and dosing loads |
| SCB18 dry-type transformer | For indoor or restricted installations where oil containment is not permitted |
| S13 / S20 / S22 oil-immersed transformer | For outdoor auxiliary and remote pumping stations where space and cost favour an oil-immersed unit |
Equipment combinations shown are typical configurations for this type of installation. The delivered configuration is confirmed in the technical agreement against your single-line diagram and site conditions.
The starting method, the starting current and the staging of pump starts determine whether the plant sees a disruptive voltage dip. The incoming feeder rating has to be calculated against the worst-case start sequence.
Pump protection — including the dry-run, overload and phase-failure functions — is selected as a coordinated set with the motor, not as individual devices.
In pump rooms the enclosure class, the door gasket arrangement and the cable entry method are chosen for splash and condensation conditions, and the incoming cable routes are separated from the outgoing ones where practical.
Where a duty/standby configuration applies, the coupling arrangement and the automatic transfer logic are fixed in the technical agreement before manufacture.
For public tenders the delivered configuration must match the tender documents item by item. Send the specification and the equipment schedule and we quote against them line by line.
We need the motor data — rated power, starting method, starting current and the number of starts per hour — because the feeder rating and the protection settings depend on it. Send the motor schedule with your enquiry.
A dry-type unit, because it has no oil. The trade-off is that dry-type units are physically larger for the same rating, so the room dimensions matter. Send them and we will check the layout against the drawing.
Yes. Send the specification and the equipment schedule and we will quote against them item by item, and flag anything that cannot be supplied as specified before the offer is issued.
We supply the equipment, the approved drawings, the routine factory test reports and the operation and maintenance manual, and we provide technical support for the commissioning team. Installation and grid connection are carried out by the contractor's own qualified crews.
Send the single-line diagram or the equipment schedule, the destination country and the quantity. We reply with a configuration proposal and a price, normally within 24 hours.
